How To Crochet A Mini Christmas Stocking

This crochet mini Christmas stocking is a great free pattern that you can use as a Christmas ornament, Garland or baby stocking for a small gift. Once you know the pattern they are easy and fast to make. While this pattern is available for free here on MummaJ Crochet, a PDF version is also available (low cost and print friendly!)

You will need:

Cotton Yarn


Yarn Needle


Scissors

3.5 mm Crochet Hook


*Cotton Yarn: 100% cotton, 50 g (1.76 oz) / 115m (125 yd) Etsy

Stitches / abbreviations:


Sc = Single Crochet (Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through, now you have 2 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through both loops.)


Hdc = Half Double Crochet (Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through all three loops.)


Dc = Double Crochet (Yarn over, insert into stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, you will have three loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through two loops, yarn over, pull through remaining two loops.)


Ss = Slip stitch (Insert hook, yarn over, pull through both stitch and loop on hook.)


Inc = Increase (2 stitches in same stitch)


Dec = Decrease (Insert hook into front loop of first stitch, Insert hook into front loop of second stitch, yarn over, pull through both loops, now you have 2 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through both loops.)


Blo = Back loop only


Flo = Front loop only


St = Stitch/stitches


Ch = Chain (Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook)

IMPORTANT!

Written Pattern:

White Yarn
Make a slipknot, ch 3 (does not count as a stitch), 10 hdc into the first chain that you made = 10
1 hdc inc in each st = 20
1 hdc in each st for 1 row = 20
Ss to the next st and change to your main color, knot the white yarn and tail from the main color together, cut the white yarn, ch 1

Main color
1 hdc in each st for 4 rows = 20
Ss to the next st and change to the white yarn, do not cut the main color Yarn this time, ch 1

White Yarn
1 Hdc into the same st that you ss into, hdc 8 = 9
Ch1, turn your work, hdc 9 for 3 rows = 9
Ch1, cut your yarn (long enough to stitch the two sides together)
Fold the 4 white rows together and use a yarn needle to stitch the last row closed. Hide the yarn tail inside the heel that you just made.

Main Color
Go back to your main color thread and insert your hook into the first white st, pull through your main color and ch1, make 9 hdc along the white st, 11 hdc along the main color = 20
1 hdc in each st for 7 rows = 20
6 hdc (or as many hdc as you need to get to the back of the stocking)

White Yarn
Ss to the next st and change to the white yarn, knot the white yarn and tail from the main color together, cut the main color yarn, ch 1
1 Hdc into the same st that you ss into,1 hdc in each st, ss to the first st, ch1 for 2 rows = 20
Ch 15, ss to the next st, cut your yarn and hide the tail.
